Dig your hole
Position your Subpod in your chosen garden bed. Preferably 10cm back from an edge, so it's easy to feed, and you can use it as a garden seat! Trace out the size hole you need. Dig the whole 30cm deep with a very level bottom.
Plant your Subpod
Put your assembled Subpod into the hole, making sure the aeration panels are just above ground level and the lid is as close to horizontal as possible. Adjust with pavers, gravel or soil underneath your subbed as needed. The lid will open and close smoothly when horizontal.
Fill in your hole
If you have clay or sandy soil, its best to back fill with potting mix, so your Subpod drains the right amount. Water in as you fill so the soil settles down sooner. Make sure the ventilation panels in your Subpod just above ground level. Mulch over any bare earth to keep your soil alive and thriving.
Add your worms
Now its time to add your worms. Soak the coconut-peat brick in a bucket of water until it breaks up. Poor across the floor of your Subpod, allow to drain, leaving damp bedding for your worms. Alternatively you can use soaked shredded newspaper. Lay your moistened worm blanket on top, and your Subpod is ready!
